Wujido Institute has been one of the most valuable elements in my life for the past three years (the period of time which I have been a student). The benefits that I have received have dramatically and profoundly changed my life for the better.
Since the beginning of my training, my health, fitness, speed, power, and agility have substantially improved. But as I continue down the path of development in Kung Fu, I have realized there are much deeper and greater attributes that can be achieved, as opposed to just the physical ones. These other intangible aspects of the training are much harder to obtain and can only be reached if the student is disciplined and committed enough.
I believe success in Martial Arts
requires integrity, hard work, and determination. These are the characteristics
that I hope to develop and improve upon as I go, and are some of the reasons
why I continue to train here. I believe Martial Arts is a life-long endeavor.
It is not something that can be half-way attempted, or accomplished with only
"one foot in". When approached more as a lifestyle, I found there
is a great deal of character development that produces pure, undiluted qualities
of my personality. It has also helped me improve and clarify my virtues, morals,
and ethics in life. The same characteristics required to succeed in Martial
Arts, are the same ones you need to be a successful person. A successful person
to me, is someone who can confidently and proudly walk through this world being
comfortable with who they are, not with what others want or think they should
be.
The training here has helped me become
more grounded and independent. It has given me the strength and courage to evaluate
the surroundings in my life and identify what is true and what is trivial. This
school has given me more than I could ever have imagined and means a great deal
to me. Thank you Dr. Harkins for all that you have provided.
